Job Description:
VF Anderson Builders is seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in a variety of construction projects, including heavy civil construction, roadwork, and utility work. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a range of heavy machinery and equipment, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, and loaders on construction sites.

• Perform excavation, grading, and other tasks related to road construction, sewer & water pipe laying, and utility work.

• Ensure proper equipment maintenance, including routine checks and servicing.

• Work closely with project supervisors and other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within safety standards.

• Follow safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure safe operation of machinery.

• Assist with loading and unloading materials, as well as other general labor tasks when needed.

• Interpret blueprints and project plans to execute tasks effectively.

• Keep detailed records of machine usage, maintenance, and hours worked.

 

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, preferably in roadwork, utility, or heavy civil construction.

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.

• Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from supervisors.

• Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the role.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.

• Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, utilities, and other infrastructure projects.

• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment under supervision.

• Perform tasks such as trenching, digging, backfilling, grading, and laying pipe.

• Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris, setting up barricades, and ensuring work areas are safe and organized.

• Help with the setup and breakdown of construction equipment and temporary structures.

• Follow directions from supervisors and project managers to ensure proper execution of tasks.

• Read and interpret basic construction plans and blueprints.

• Assist in the installation of sewer, water pipes, and utility systems.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and regulations.

• Load and unload materials and equipment.

• Work in all weather conditions and in various physical environments.

 

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in construction, roadwork, or utility work is preferred but not required.
